« Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 1 finely sliced onion
  • 1 pint veg stock (a pint of boiling water with a stock cube mixed in)
  • a couple of drops of gravy browning

Method

  • Melt the knob of butter in a saucepan
  • Sweat the onion for at least 10 minutes until it’s soft
  • Stir in the flour
  • Stir in the stock slowly so it thickens before adding more
  • Add the gravy browning (careful or it will end up looking like chocolate sauce)
